Thank you for the honor and opportunity to serve you as a counselor.
I consider it a privilege to counsel children through adults as I get to share biblical truth as well as pray with those whom I counsel. For nearly fifteen years, I served children, adolescents, parents, and adults as a counselor and/or educator. My goal, as your counselor, is to meet you at your point of need. Through the truth of God’s Word, the power of prayer, and the application of counseling techniques, hope and restoration are available for your heart, mind, and body.
Expectations:
The counseling process takes time and committed effort. I expect you to be honest, implement homework, and work toward the established goals. You can expect that I will counsel applying biblical truth, provide an environment of safety and trust, listen empathetically, challenge false beliefs, offer encouragement, explore feelings, provide homework (when applicable), create goals, and make referrals when appropriate.
Serving:
Children (all ages), Adolescents, College-Age/Young Adults, Women, and Parents/Guardians
Counseling Experience:
Anxiety
Anger
Depression
Grief and Loss
Stress
ADHD
Play Therapy (ages 4-8)
School Related Issues
Communication and Conflict Resolution
Health & Wellness/Weight Management
COUNSELING APPROACHES:
There are several therapeutic approaches that I apply based on each person’s needs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors. Although people and situations may not change, our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can still improve. A person-centered approach is applied through talk therapy and art/play therapy (for children under age 10).
Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) confronts irrational or false beliefs with the truth. Therefore, you are challenged to align your feelings and behaviors according to the exposed truth.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is grounded in the present and future. You are creating and striving toward goals, answering questions, and working through the problem rather than focusing on the past.
Play Therapy helps children (ages 4-8) cope with emotional trauma or stress through their natural means of expression which is play. Through the children's words, actions, and choice of toys, emotions can be brought out and worked through in a secure and loving environment.
